Before filing for bankruptcy, you must receive a financial briefing that outlines the opportunities for available credit counseling and have a budget analysis performed during the 180 day period preceding the date you file bankruptcy.

Counseling sessions take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1½ hours. Following this counseling, you will receive a budget analysis and a certificate. The certificate must be filed with the court along with your bankruptcy paperwork.

*If counseling completed between the hours of 9am and 6pm CST Monday through Friday. If counseling is completed after 6pm CST, the certificate will be issued on the next business day.

We do have a fee waiver program. If you are truly unable to pay the $50 fee for this counseling you may apply for a fee waiver by having your attorney send a letter to Credit Advisors explaining your situation and why the $50 poses a hardship for you.
